Your Guide To the Best
MASTECTOMY SWIMWEAR

Finding the perfect swimwear after a mastectomy can be a challenging journey, but it doesn't have to be. Post-mastectomy swimwear is designed to offer both style and functionality, allowing women to feel confident and comfortable at the beach or pool.

With specialised features such as built-in pockets for prostheses, high quality fabrics, and flattering designs, these swimsuits cater to the unique needs of women who have undergone a mastectomy.

This guide lets you discover the benefits of post-mastectomy swimwear, key features to look for, and helps you find your new favourite swimsuit.

1) Swimwear for prosthetics

Look for swimsuits with pockets to securely hold your prosthetics - including tankini tops, one pieces, and swim dresses.

2) Wear without prosthetics

You can look great and feel confident in a swimsuit without wearing prosthetics. Look for frilled, flouncy, and structured designs.

3) for post mastectomy exercise

Many of our chlorine resistant styles are designed for post mastectomy wear, making them an easy choice for getting active after surgery.

SWIMWEAR WITH PROSTHETIC POCKETS

A post mastectomy swimsuit that you can wear with your prosthetics will include built-in pockets. Swimsuits with removeable bra pads and either a supportive shelf-bra or underwire, will help keep your prosthetics in place.

Look for swimwear that has a pouch for your inserts, such as underwire styles, swim dresses, high neck, zip up, and criss cross styles.

STYLES TO WEAR WITHOUT PROSTHETICS

If you don't want to wear prosthetics, and prefer to keep your chest under wraps, you can go for a swimsuit with coverage. Try a ruffled, criss cross, or flouncy style that conceals your bust area. These styles feature a shelf bra and soft cups to give a little a shape and coverage.

It was my first summer following cancer treatment and a mastectomy, and the prospect of swimwear shopping was daunting and confronting. Finding Capriosca was a blessing, and my Honeycomb Tankini top and bottom is by far my best purchase. Great sizing, lovely fabric, and most importantly for me, a proper mastectomy pouch that fits my prosthesis.

If you are wearing your swimsuit for swimming or hydrotherapy, it is essential that you choose chlorine resistant fabrics. Public pools and heated spas can damage regular swim fabric, so be sure to select a style that is resistant to chlorine. Chlorine resistant fabric is firmer than regular swim material, so it also has the benefit of support and keeping your prosthetic in place.

The material is very good and my prothesis fits so I’m extremely pleased. The colour is so uplifting. Needless to say I’m very happy with my purchase.
