Choosing the right tankini top for you

Here at Capriosca Swimwear, we know how much you love a tankini top. Each season we add new tankini styles to our collection and every one of them is a hit.

While there are clear favourites among our styles, we endeavour to offer something for everyone, paying particular attention to comfort and fit.

Tankini tops are a fabulous alternative to one piece bathers and bikinis. They offer the ease of a two piece with the look and coverage of a one piece. Tankinis are also perfect for those with different sized tops and bottoms or whose torso lengths don’t quite work in a full piece.

You can create a unique swim set that fits beautifully with comfort and style by choosing separate tops and pants that work for you.

To find your perfect fit, figure out what your body needs. It's important to consider your unique requirements and whether the tankini top you're eyeing off will satisfy these.

Do you need a longer or shorter length, a certain cup size for extra bust support or would you like to a tankini top to cover your tummy? The ideal tankini top is one that fits and supports you with comfort and style.

If you are new to tankini swimwear or haven’t been able to find a top to fit you just right, read on to discover what you should be looking for when choosing the perfect swim top.

Body Length

For those of us who are either too long or too short in the body for a one piece, a tankini set is a summertime saviour. Longer bodied women in particular find it much easier to fit a separate top and bottom rather than trying to squeeze their elongated torsos into an ill-fitting one piece.

Many of the tankini tops in our collection are designed to accommodate longer bodies for a comfortable fit that looks just right. Pairing a longer style tankini top with a high waisted pant, ensures that no skin shows and the body is perfectly covered front and back.

Similarly, women with short bodies, who don’t quite fill the length of a one piece, love the way tankini separates work for them.

Our athletic inspired racer back tops and swing tankinis are fabulous styles that don’t overwhelm the body with excessive length and fabric. Pair these with your preferred pant style and feel confident and comfortable at the beach or by the pool.

Our tankini tops include adjustable straps as a standard feature. These allow you to further customise your length fitting for a personalised fit that suits you.

Bust Support

At Capriosca Swimwear we understand the individual needs of our customers and work towards providing swimwear for all shapes and sizes. One of our most popular requests is for swimsuits that fit and support different bust sizes, including larger cup fittings.

We offer swimwear across our collection to fit and support bust sizes from A cups to G cups and beyond.

Our tankini collection includes styles with shelf bras and underwire to provide a variety of support options for all bust sizes. A shelf bra is a thick elastic band that sits under the bust. This provides comfortable support for all bust sizes including cup sizes larger than a G cup.

We refer to our shelf bra styles as multi fit since they don’t need to fit each breast perfectly, like an underwire does. This allows them to accommodate much larger busts by providing plenty of room and adequate support, even for an H cup bust.

An underwire tankini top will offer you the ultimate in lift and bust support. You can choose a perfectly fitting underwire tankini top with styles available in DD/E and F/G cup sizes.

The addition of adjustable straps allow these styles to resemble the fit and feel of a bra, giving you the most supportive fit of any other swimwear style.

You can shop for your cup size using our handy filter to find a tankini top to fit you perfectly.

Tummy Control

If you’re looking for a tankini top that provides tummy control or coverage, our collection includes a number of styles that address concerns around the mid-section.

Whether you prefer a style that holds in the tummy, creating a defined waistline or you just want to hide the belly with a top that skims over it, we have what you need.

Our ruched styles usually combine a supportive gathered body with an underwire to effectively show off the waistline. The body is lined with shaping and smoothing mesh while the ruching blends away any unwanted lumps and bumps.

The underwire lifts the bust creating more space for the mid-section to lengthen the body and showcase the waistline. These tankini styles are ideal if you want to create or show off an hourglass silhouette in a flattering and slimming way.

For those who just want to cover everything in a stylish and flattering way, we have several tankini styles that skim over the belly, completely disguising the shape and size. You can feel relaxed and confident knowing you don’t have to worry about your tummy being visible, if that’s what you prefer.

Our swing tankiniis cut in an empire line with the skirted bottom flaring out from under the bust and skimming over the belly and hips. This is a favourite for pregnant women wanting a maternity swimsuit that will adequately fit their growing bump.

Our best selling tankini top and a style we repeat season after season in new prints and colours, is the 3 tier tankini top.

This cleverly designed swim top features cascading ruffles that beautifully cover the bust, belly and hips. The frills are cut in a triangular shape to elongate and shape the body. The back of the top sits flat and smooth against the body to show off the natural curves of the waist. A shelf bra is built in, offering a multi fit option that provides comfortable support for all bust sizes.

Creating a Tankini Set

Now that you’ve decided which tankini top style is the best fit for you, it’s time to complete your swimsuit. If you have a preferred bikini bottom style and you’re happy with how they look and feel, then stick with what you love.

If you need more advice on the different styles available to you, then read on.

A high waisted style is our favourite when it comes to pairing your tankini top and pant. This classic cut pant sits on the natural waistline providing a full coverage option for hips, bottom, belly and lower back.

These work beautifully with tankini tops as they create a smooth finish under the top and offer coverage if your tankini top floats up in the water or rides up. These are the best choice if you are trying to achieve a one piece effect with your tankini top and pants.

Other styles available include low rise tie side and rollover pants. These are great if you like hip hugging bikini bottoms and they work well as maternity pants as they sit underneath and cradle your growing bump.

For active women or those who prefer thigh and leg coverage, team your tankini top with a pair of our longer line swim pants. Choose your length from boyleg, bike pant and ¾ length swim leggings. These pants are ideal to wear with tankini tops for a practical swim set that gives you coverage and freedom to move around with ease.
