We’re almost a month into 2022, and although it feels like the world is in perpetual crisis, we can’t help but feel optimistic. We have high hopes for good times ahead and feel confident that a positive change is just around the corner. What have we got to lose?
Perhaps we’re being naïve or blissfully ignorant but staying hopeful about the year ahead is helping us through these current challenging times. Keeping our expectations realistic and focusing on the little things that bring us joy help us to feel positive and save us from disappointment.
So, what are we looking forward to in 2022?
The ongoing pandemic has seen borders shut around the globe. Many folks have been physically separated from family and friends for months, if not years. We have been fortunate to live in an age where technology can keep us connected but nothing compares to a hug from a loved one or sitting across the table from your favourites to share a meal.
This year we live in hope of being with our nearest and dearest again. Locally, borders are coming down and Australian residents can now move between states to see family and friends. The process has begun. We are so looking forward to being able to travel safely overseas to see those we’ve been apart from for so long.
With lockdowns and quarantines, it seems like life has been put on hold for the entire planet. While many of us have feel like the pause button has been put on our lives, love and life continue to flourish. Weddings have still been celebrated, and babies have been born. We just haven’t been in the front row of these momentous events.
We are looking forward to all the possibilities of being front and centre to celebrate weddings and cuddle newborn babies.
Whether big local receptions or destination weddings abroad, many of us have missed being part of the big day for friends and family. This year we hope to receive beautiful invitations in the mail requesting the pleasure of our company. We can’t wait to shop for stylish outfits that aren’t just lounge and activewear and look forward to the blisters that come with new high heels. Bring it on!
Travel really is at the crux of all that we’re hoping to experience this year. Whether we’re getting on a plane to see long lost loved ones, or we just want to witness the cherry blossoms bloom in Japan or the sun set over the Mediterranean Sea, we just want to go somewhere different.
In 2020 we realised how much we took travel for granted when it was rudely taken from us by the pandemic. So many of us were grateful for having experienced the joys of local and international travel vowing to take the opportunity as soon as we were able to again.
With the world a true global village, we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in vibrant cultures and open our minds to new experiences. Whether it’s making it just across the border to visit somewhere interstate or flying halfway around the world, the thought of travel ignites our souls and keeps us hopeful for more.
The arts industry has taken a huge beating during the pandemic. Those of us who love to witness the skill and talent of performing artists are desperate for a fix. The constant postponement and cancellation of shows and festivals has left both creators and spectators feeling disappointed and deflated.
This year we’re hopeful for a turnaround and are already witnessing some of the biggest live arts events go ahead. In only a few months, some of the world’s most popular musicians will hit the stage for Coachella, arguably one of the most important festivals on the global music calendar. Audiences will flock from all over the world to celebrate their shared love of music and art on a grand scale, and all will be well in the world. Fingers crossed.
As the world starts to open up, so to do our opportunities to try new things and embrace new experiences. Our pursuits need not be overly ambitious though. Learning a new skill or taking up a hobby can be as simple or complex as we need it to be.
Here at Capriosca HQ our goals for the year are a varied as we are. Learning to run, returning to art, learning an instrument, sewing an outfit, learning to surf and cook advanced recipes. We hope to develop a green thumb, learn new languages, and even ride a horse.
While many of these goals will be achieved, some will fall by the wayside and that’s ok. It’s wonderful to dream and feel hopeful that new exciting experiences await us.
The most important thing we are looking forward to in 2022 is a renewed sense of confidence. Feeling confident that our plans won’t be cancelled, confident that we can live a healthy life, and confident that we can achieve all our hopes and dreams for the year.
We know we’re living a glass half full existence, and our wishes may not come true, but it does feel good to be hopeful and positive about the future. We wish you all the very best for 2022.
